Taking Four Kids to the Dentist
Kid #1 did not want to go to the dentist and got teary eyed when thinking about the thing that sucks the spit out of your mouth and all things that go in your mouth. That's rough when you are going to the dentist.
Kid #2 Was excited about the cartoon you get to watch while getting your teeth clean but was not impressed with the toothbrush and prize selection and left in tears.
Kid #3 Looked forward to sitting in the big chair until actually sitting in it. Then started to cry.
Kid #4 Sat in my lap for most of the time being entertained with a new toothbrush then when that wore off started to cry.
The dentist has never really been my favorite place but I never thought it was that sad.
We can't wait for braces in a few years.

Summer Pictures
We could have stayed and played by the fountains for a long time.
The Olympic Park
We also could have spent hours and hours swimming.
We had a girls only tea party at a very fancy hotel.
Fancy food. Small, but very good.
Some members of our family had a little to much spare time and/or fun at scout camp this summer and decided to get a mohawk
One Year Old!
Family Triathlon participants
We visited a lake named after a bear with neat reeds in it and no bears.
The lake is fun to play in because you can wade out quite far and the water is still shallow.
Playing on the beach was fun too.
This summer a splash pad opened at the park behind our house. We had fun playing with cousins and friends.

Three Years Old!
We won't say how many years old. But when you are this old you get your birthday cake in a fire pit. |
I didn't have a reason to post this picture except I really like it.
First Day of School
Visiting "A Little Piece of Heaven"

Quote(s) of the Week
"That's not the strangest place I've found my deodorant this week."
" I want peanut butter on my hot dog."
And if you think kids don't follow politics... Overheard while driving in the car listening to the radio:
"That president made it so we don't get dessert for school lunch!"

Some Things Shouldn't Be Shared
I think this story isn't one of them.
A few days ago I walked into the bathroom and saw two sticks of deodorant sitting on the counter with their lids off. Our three year old was standing suspiciously close by. Our conversation went something like this:
Me- What are you doing with these?
Three year old- Me 'n Nigel are using them!
For those of you who may not know who Nigel is, he is our cat..... I am still glad it wasn't my deodorant.

It's a Mom Thing
I've decided once again I am easily distracted. I'm convinced it's a mom thing. If you find yourself next to something to do and a minute to do it, you do it. Usually one thing that needs doing leads to another that needs doing and the next thing you know you have forgotten about the first thing that needs doing. Maybe I should stick with doing one thing at a time. It might be more effective. But that would totally be going against the mom thing. Yesterday I put a bag of groceries down in the garage then remembered I wanted to do something in the garage so I fiddled with that for a few minutes. Later when I was making dinner I wondered where the grapes were that I was sure I bought at the store. Then I wondered where the cantaloupe was that I know I bought at the store and I did NOT want to go back and show them the receipt and tell them I didn't get my produce. I even walked past the bag to look for the receipt and missing produce in the car. Now that I have admitted all this to the blogging world I am pleased to say I remembered where the bag was before dinner.

Lessons from a Two Year Old and a Train Picture
We found out what can happen if you let a two year old be in charge of the lesson for Family Home Evening. We had three lessons, titled as follows: You Can't Catch Me, Pillow Fight, and Monster. They mostly involved running around and screaming. I'm still not sure what the objective was. I'll be sure to write about it when I find out.
Last weekend we went to a place with neat rocks and brought back a picture of a train. (We stopped here on the way). It was so cold, windy, rainy, snowy with thunder and lightning mixed in, I didn't think about taking pictures. I was trying to keep everyone warm and dry. When I did look for the camera I couldn't find it. It was at the bottom of all our stuff. It was a neat trip despite the winter weather.
